Turkey Bowl 2025 – More Than Just a Game Every year, as the air turns crisp and families begin planning for the holidays, our Saint Louis Scott Gallagher family comes together for one of the best traditions of the season: our annual Turkey Bowl. This year’s event promises to be bigger than ever — not just a celebration of soccer, but a celebration of community and giving back. On the day of the Turkey Bowl, players of all ages and their families will hit the field with a smile, fierce play, and that unmistakable Gallagher spirit. But just as important as the goals and passes will be the ways we reach out off the field: supporting each other, our neighbors, and our city. Giving Back: How We’re Making an Impact This year, we’re proud to tie our Turkey Bowl to two of our key community initiatives: 1. The Upper 90 Program Through the Upper 90 Program, our players take on leadership roles — organizing fundraising efforts and service projects that make a real difference. This Turkey Bowl will serve as a centerpiece for those efforts, with teams bringing donation items (canned goods, non-perishables, warm gear) to share with families in-need and participants volunteering alongside the event. It’s a chance for our young athletes to step into the role of teammate in the broader sense — not only working with each other on the field, but working together as part of something larger. 2. The South-Side City Program and broader Foundation work The Turkey Bowl will also support our club’s commitment to the South Side of St. Louis — ensuring access to soccer, mentorship, and community for youth who deserve the chance to play and grow. The SLSG Foundation (our 501(c)(3) arm) and the Upper 90 fundraising funnel donations and scholarships toward these efforts. By tying our Turkey Bowl to these initiatives, we’re making this day about more than competition or fun — we’re making it about purpose. What to Expect Arrival & check-in: Each team brings a donation item (food, jackets, scarves, gloves) to drop off when they arrive. Warm-up: A quick group talk about how team effort translates into community effort. Matches begin: Players bring their energy and game-face, knowing they’re playing for each other and for something bigger. Community moment: Mid-tournament we’ll pause to recognize the youth leaders in the Upper 90 Program, thank our donors, and highlight the impact of our South Side initiatives. Celebration & sharing: After the matches, we gather to drop off the collected items, talk about the day’s wins (on and off the field), and enjoy a snack or mini-reception as a club family. Looking ahead: We’ll close with a reminder of what’s next — how the donations will be used, how the South Side program continues, and how every player is part of the journey. Why It Matters At its heart, the Turkey Bowl is a microcosm of what our club stands for: Unity, Humility, Passion, Respect, Tradition. When our players show up, suit up, and step on the field, they’re practicing their sport. But just as importantly, they’re practicing the qualities that build community: caring for others, giving time and energy, acknowledging that individual success is tied to team and neighborhood. And when a child who might never have had a soccer ball gets one through our South Side program; when a family receives help at the holidays because our members chose to donate; when a young athlete takes a leadership role through Upper 90 — those are wins far bigger than any scoreboard. Join Us Whether you’re playing, volunteering, donating, cheering on a sibling or friend — your presence matters. Bring your team spirit, your donation items, your willingness to make a difference, and your big Gallagher heart. Together we’ll make this Turkey Bowl one to remember — not just for the goals scored on the field, but for the lives touched off it.

Yesterday, members of our Scott Gallagher family came together once again — not just to play the game we love, but to honor a hero and support one of our own.

The annual tournament in memory of Colin, Coach Sterling’s son-in-law, is more than just a day of soccer. It’s a celebration of community, a reminder of the strength found in family, and a tribute to the lasting legacy of those who serve.

Through every match, every handshake, and every shared story on the sidelines, Colin’s spirit was felt. His courage and selflessness continue to inspire us — on and off the field.

Today and every day, we remember Colin and all veterans who gave so much for others. Your bravery and sacrifice remind us what it truly means to be part of a team — to serve, to support, and to never forget. 🇺🇸
